How'd we end up here?

A pic from last week's ice storm. It's times like these that really make me wonder how it came to be that my family decided to pack up and move across the world to Iowa, of all places. Most of us Filipino folk tend to head for the west coast but not our family. We say, give us the subzero temps and the snow we refuse to drive in. Perhaps it's the sweet Midwestern values that sucked all of us in.

What have yahs Wednesday

1. In December, I realized that hulu has episodes of "My So-called Life". Oh, Jordan Catalano, how you make my angsty teen self swoon.

2. Finally purchased a ladle/yadle this weekend. We tried to buy one a few years ago and Target was sold out. Crazy but true. We would later get engaged and fail to register for one. We then got married, collected our wedding cash and gift cards and headed to Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond. We walked out with several housewares, none of which were a ladle.
3. Cuddlee=perfect way to stay warm and blog in the cold basement. Thanks, Jonna!

Photobook fun

In an effort to preserve our photos and treasured memories, I've made the executive decision to compile all pictures and make a photo book at the end of each year. And to make things a little more interesting, I've decided that the running theme will be an alphabet book. Naturally, I got a little flexible with a few of the letters but no matter, it's the captured moments in time that really count.

I'm sorry that...

I didn't appreciate Joshua Radin more when we saw him play at Peoples for Jill's birthday last year. I still have lukewarm feelings for his "whisper rock" but am definitely over the moon for this song...

This ain't your mama's fairytale

With a recent purchase of a PS3, we've been exploring the world of Blu-Ray. Our foray into this hi-def medium led us to Pan's Labyrinth. I wasn't sure what to expect but was definitely not prepared for the bits of graphic violence and creepy villains. I know villains are suppose to be creepy but this particular guy really gives me the heebie jeebies. I'm sure that some of our faint of heart friends, (read: Peanut Butter and Jimmy Jam) are going to say something to me about posting this picture. Sorry!

Cheers to the end of a decade where we, 1) graduated from high school, 2) graduated from college, 3) bought a house, 4) became proud parents of a 115 lb. puppy love and 5) got married! Wow, wow, wow!

We spent our Christmas in Davenport this year, per the agreement of '07. I believe we've struck a pretty good balance between both of our families. We get a fair amount of quality time with both sides and inevitably end up stretching Christmas out so that we're still giving and getting gifts a week after the holiday.
