Everyone loves Elmo

The first encounter I ever had with Elmo was when he was on the Rosie O'Donnell show. I was in eighth grade and he appeared as a guest and oh, boy was he cute. And funny! Really truly funny. Of course, I am not the only one who realized this way back when. Everyone freaking loves Elmo. Including this kid of mine.

We flipped Sesame Street on Netflix when Dexter was younger just to see if he would be into that kind of thing and yes, he enjoyed the other characters but when Elmo came on, his eyes lit up and he fell desperately in love.  And that love only grows stronger with each passing day. We do our Elmo watching on the big TV downstairs, never the upstairs TV, (which for the record is reserved for our important programs like the Today Show and Wheel of Fortune), and so now if he wants to go downstairs he says, "Momo". Terribly cute...until you can't get the effing Netflix to work and then it gets a little dicey up in here. Here's a video I took awhile back of him watching his show. Excuse the pantslessness.

PS Josh and I watched this really cool documentary about the puppeteer behind Elmo last spring. As we were watching, all I could think was this guy is a giant celebrity shrouded in anonymity. Weird, right?

PPS Dexter would like to recommend these two YouTube clips for any of you Momo inclined readers out there.
