Christmas came early

Christmas came early for the little girls in our family. Disney on Ice skated into town so Dawn, Annie and I took Lydia, Natalie (my second cousins), and Dawn's niece Madisen to the princess-themed show for Christmas. Lydia said that Sleeping Beauty, aka Princess Aurora, was her favorite princess which I found shocking. I always thought that Ariel and Cinderella were a little more appealing to the younger crowd (and me). Guess I'm not as hip as I thought I was.

Lights out

Does anyone know what kind of light should go here? We've lived in our house for 2+ years and our kitchen light bit the dust about a month ago. At first, Josh couldn't figure out how to remove the globe but once he figured that out, a whole new challenge was presented with finding the mystery bulb that fits here.

Luckily, we haven't been left in the dark since the clever owner before us installed additional recessed lighting. However, I just can't break my habit of hitting the switch for our now defunct light and having nothing happen. Sheesh.

Foiled. You do not fit here, light from Home Depot.

Slappa da bass

Friday night Lora and I watched "I Love You Man". The movie was great. I have really grown to appreciate the breadth of Paul Rudd's work and Jason Segel is hilarious. Maybe I am biased because I have been told that I remind people of Jason. One thing that seems to be more and more true is that the out takes and gag reel on these fancy new DVD s tend to be just as funny if not more funny than the actual movie itself. If you never have watched Anchorman with the commentary turned on I strongly suggest you do. Oh and Rush is sweet too!

Subtle Sexuality re-do

It was brought to my attention that the video for this post no longer works. After logging many minutes on the semi-functional internet at Andrew and Annie's with our friends, I thought I'd take the liberty of re-posting "Subtle Sexuality" for your viewing pleasure.

This little piggy...

A reluctant Josh poses with Floyd of Rosedale at this summer's state fair.

I knew this picture would come in handy! I've just been waiting for the right moment to share it with all of you and with the Hawks victory over Minnesota today the time is now, my friends.

I forgot...

how much I love Britney Spears! I know she went crazy for a little bit...

but her music makes me uber-productive. I took the afternoon off, popped in her "In the Zone" CD and proceeded to pack for Davenport, wash dishes and sweep and de-clutter the living room and bathroom in record time. There's just something about the techno bass and not-so-deep lyrics that make me move at double time. So for me, I prefer to remember our dear Brit-Brit this way-

Looking forward

After this past weekend's debacle with the Hawkeyes, I'm looking forward to starting anew. Granted, starting anew means starting with our backup quarterback at Ohio State-yikes! Josh being the "Debbie Downer" of our house says that Iowa will not win another game this season. Not one to make snap judgements, I decided to do my research on this Vandenberg character before donning my pity party hat. I didn't find too much on him except for the fact that every media outlet likes to refer to the freshman as "baby faced". I got too annoyed with this cliche description and eventually gave up on my research.

Fall Pictures

Parents take fall pictures with their kids. We wrestle with our dog until he goes into submission onto a dirty pile of leaves.

Look who helped with yard work! That is if "help" can be classified as standing in front of the leafblower and trying to play with it or getting hit by the rake.

Subtle Sexuality

This song has been in my head ever since I watched this webisode last Thursday. And I'm not even mad about it.

Long time, no blog

Hello, hello! Josh and I are personally recommitting ourselves to our blog. We apologize for getting sidetracked by other boring issues, such as work, and for succumbing to laziness but we're happy to say that we are ready to reenter the blogosphere.

We haven't been up to very much, just lots o' football watching. College football abounds in our house and poor little Sudsy can't stand it. He thinks Josh is yelling at him every time there is a big play, especially during the Iowa games. Suds has taken to laying down in a completely different room when the Hawks play. I will admit that Joshie isn't the only one getting excited about Iowa's winning streak. I'm definitely super excited about it and even (gasp!) listened to the game on the radio when I ran out and got Tasty Tacos for lunch this weekend. Crazy, huh?
