After a flurry of activities on our social calendar-Wicked, Austin City Limits, Iowa vs. Michigan game, we took the opportunity to relax this weekend. After seeing many previews for "Where the Wild Things Are", we decided to hit up the movie on opening night. Thanks to the super sweet entertainment book that we purchased from our first cousin once removed for a school fundraiser we enjoyed a buy one, get one free admission at the Springwood 9. We've never been to these theaters so I googled to find out where it was. I saw that it was reviewed as having the best popcorn and consequently had my coat halfway on and one foot out the door.
Springwood 9 made me remember what it's like to go to a movie theater that isn't attached to the mall. There were no super awkward teenage boys, giggling girls or preteens who are dressed nicer than me. Instead Josh and I found ourselves in the lobby with kids and lots of them. There was a group of three little boys who were just running as fast as they could around and around the lobby and Josh said, "Could you imagine running around in circles and being that entertained? The only reasons we run now are because we're being chased or because we don't want to get fat." So true. Who knew the Springwood 9 could bring about such profound revelations?

Wednesday what have yahs
1. Let Me Know. LMK.com is my new favorite news site for college football. Also check out Google's new one for all your other news needs! Fast Flip
2. I need to voice my opinion about something that has been annoying me for the past few months. I can't stand all of these people who insist on quoting songs for their Facebook status. Lame!
3.A sad day for all of us who grew up watching WWF wrestling. Captain Lou Alabano died today at the tender age of 76. Makes me miss watching "real" wrestling on Saturday mornings eating a bowl of cereal.

Game Day
We traveled to Iowa City this weekend to tailgate and frolic the streets of the Ped Mall for the BIG Iowa vs. Michigan game. While the Hawks continued their winning streak with a victory over Michigan, Josh and I continued our tradition of tailgating in Iowa City in wintry conditions. The chill in the air called for layers and heavy drinking.

Lets give this a shot. Pick 6
Okay. So I have been dabbling in the arena of sports wagering the past couple of weeks. Not only is it fun but it makes the game between Florida Atlantic and Florida International exciting. I do not wager much of anything but I have been able to put my knowledge of NFL and College football to good use...sort of. I will begin to offer up a few suggestions for picks that I might make. For those of you who think I am involved in an illegal operation. Not so fast my friends! Bodog.com is completely legal. Remember this is for entertainment purposes only.
Michigan @ -7Iowa I like Iowa to pull it together on offense and to rattle the frosh Michigan QB.
Georgia Tech @ -3Florida State GA Tech has NEVER won in Tallahassee.
Auburn @ +3 Arkansas Ryan Mallett is too much for the fighting Chiziks.
Stanford @ Oregon State(pick em) Oregon State is improving and I can't trust Stanford on the road.
Georgia+1 @ Tennessee Richt has a 25-4 raod record in the SEC and Tenn isn't that good.
Indiana +6 1/2 @ Virginia Indy is better than most think and Va is awful.
Also, they have not posted an open line for the Florida @ LSU game. I thin LSU will win the game straight up, Tebow or no Tebow.
Good luck! Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself.

Always Sunny
Did I ever mention the awesomeness that is "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"? "The gang" is terribly inappropriate but their antics make Thursday nights at our house way more enjoyable.

Music and Middle Earth
Austin City Limits was our first big music festival and we deemed it a success. Yes, it took us about two hours to get a cab back from Zilker Park to our hotel. Yes, it rained all day on one of the days. Yes, we walked around barefoot, ankle-deep in mud with 65,000 other strangers, (rain all day on Saturday=sopping wet tennis shoes=must wear flip-flops to trudge through "Middle Earth"* on Sunday="yikes, we're stuck in mud"="screw it, we're going barefoot!"). And yes, we loved it.
I know I've sung the praises of the Avett Brothers before and I'm going to do it again. They put on an amazing show. I'm pretty sure Josh wishes he hadn't introduced me to them since I now insist on singing their songs (even the ones I don't know very well) at the top of my lungs.
You know who else puts on an exciting show? John Legend. Maybe my opinion is a little biased considering he started out his show a mere five feet away from our group and shook Dawn's hand, but whatever.
I knew my ears were in for good music when going to ACL but I had no idea that for the low, low price of my three-day ticket I would also get to feast my eyes on a super sweet laser show. In addition to songs you can shake it to, Ghostland Observatory's show featured lasers and plenty o' glowsticks.
*this was Josh's favorite joke
